HR Consultancy Shilputsi Spreads Wings - The Financial Express: November 20, 2002
by Tarun Narayan

In a bid to expand its presence, HR consultancy Shilputsi has set up its office at California, US, for the first time. With this move, the consultancy marks its foray into international operations. The objective behind the move is to render enhanced services to clients who are based in offshore locations.

Says Shilputsi managing partner Shilpa Sheth: “The setting up of our practice in the US not only expands our geographical presence but also enhances value proposition to our existing Indian clients.”

The new range of services include evaluation of corporate professionals in terms of personality and culture profile for the purpose of selection development and executive coaching. The firm also plans to focus on entrepreneurial clients based in the Silicon Valley area to enable them to enhance their understanding of the management aspect of business along with technical skills.

According to the firm, the present initiative will also provide entrepreneurial clients with the necessary counselling and be a sounding board. For the purpose, the firm has undertaken some formal engagement with VCs to provide such mentoring programmes.

“Apart from this, we will provide strategic consulting to businesses trying to set up an establishment or seeking to migrate business processes to India,” she adds.

The firm will also target offshore organizations looking to outsource business processes to India and provide them with management and HR solutions.

Outlining the challenges that the new business will confront, Ms. Sheth reasons that the key task would be to keep the cost low by optimally using the present resources and network and combining it with an aggressive business development strategy.

Accordingly, the firm is evolving a revenue model to cater to the definite and identifiable needs of clients. The present initiative will also provide turnkey assistance to businesses to contact and network with IT-enabled services.

Adds Ms. Sheth: “The endeavour will also be complemented by training executives in the US on transfer management of services especially with the large cultural diversity that exists in the organization.”
